![]() ![]() Of note with this value is that you get BOTH horizontal and vertical scrollbars no matter what, even if the content requires only one or the other. ![]() Setting the overflow value of a box to scroll will hide the content from rendering outside the box, but will offer scrollbars to scroll the interior of the box to view the content. So for example a user has their default font size set larger than you would expect, you may be pushing text outside of a box and hiding it completely from their view. However, bear in mind that content that is hidden in this way is utterly inaccessible (short of viewing the source). This is particularly useful in use with dynamic content and the possibility of an overflow causing serious layout problems. This literally hides any content that extends beyond the box. The opposite of the default visible is hidden. Generally, you shouldn’t be setting static heights on boxes with web text in them anyway, so it shouldn’t come up. The important thing to remember here is that even though the content is visible outside of the box, that content does not affect the flow of the page. ![]() So in general, there is no reason to explicitly set this property to visible unless you are over-riding it from being set elsewhere. If you don’t set the overflow property at all, the default is visible. Let’s take a look at each and then discuss some common uses and quirks. There are also sister properties overflow-y and overflow-x, which enjoy less widespread adoption. There are four values for the overflow property: visible (default), hidden, scroll, and auto. But what happens when you do set a specific height or width on a box, and the content inside cannot fit? That is where the CSS overflow property comes in, allowing you to specify how you would like that handled. For example, if you don’t set the height of a box, the height of that box will grow as large as it needs to be to accommodate the content. By behavior, I mean how the box handles it when the content inside and around it changes. The sizing, positioning, and behavior of these boxes can all be controlled via CSS. Every single element on a page is a rectangular box. ![]()

Now, though, Apple plans to pay rights holders on a per-stream basis, though the company didn't disclose how much it's paying per stream, which is why Conrad argues that there's no way of knowing whether Apple Music will pay artists more than anybody else (Spotify pays 70% of its revenue to labels, which amounted to roughly $1 billion in payouts last year). Before the debacle, Apple had said that it would pay music owners 71.5% of Apple Music's subscription revenue after the trial period ended, which was " a few percentage points higher than the industry standard," to account for the longer trial period. Apple isn't going above and beyond in any way, it's just on the same level as everyone else. The power that sustained them was sacred if the deity or the champion was good, or profane if the deity or the champion was evil. They attacked with more skill and force better resisted harmful effects and ignored light wounds made by any weapon, manufactured or natural. įinally, a veteran divine champion could channel some of their deity's power into a divine wrath, boosting their prowess in battle considerably. However, if the divine champion had a similar power as a former paladin or cleric, they could instead use that power one more time each day. Once a day, they could attack such a foe with the full force of their conviction. Like paladins, divine champions could smite "infidels", be they the faithful of other gods or the Faithless who believed in none. They also acquired a power known as "sacred defense", helping them resist divine spells and the magic and supernatural abilities of outsiders. Alternatively, they could improve their ability to turn undead if they had it. They could also continue to focus on their deity's weapon or on another, by gaining proficiency, improving skill in attack, or inflicting more grievous injuries. These could include expert defensive fighting, the ability to fight whilst visually impaired, and improved reactions for the start of battle, seizing an opportunity against a foe, or drawing their weapon swiftly. They also advanced their martial training, by learning certain combat techniques. For divine champions who were also paladins, this was separate from any other power to lay on hands they had. However, this only worked on those who shared their faith, and on the divine champions themselves, not on outsiders. Notably, being defenders of the faith, divine champions possessed the ability to heal simply by laying on hands just like paladins. They could also learn to intimidate others and they might study religious lore. They could gain skills in athletic areas like climbing, leaping, and swimming in riding and handling animals and in the crafting of items. Training as warriors, divine champions acquired proficiency with most traditional weapons if they weren't already. They also obviously needed a patron deity they could not be considered Faithless or False. Requirements ĭivine champions were required to possess some learning in religious lore and excellent skill-at-arms, and to have focused on wielding their god's favored weapon. For example, a divine champion of Selûne could be opposed to Shar and her worshipers. ĭivine champions opposed the faithful of deities who were enemies of their own, and selected one enemy deity to work against. They also served as leaders in crusades and battled to destroy their church's enemies, to defeat clerics of rival gods, and slay mythical beasts. They fought to protect sacred sites and the priests and pilgrims of their faith. All members of the Bloodmoon Circle, lycanthropes dedicated to Malar, were divine champions. Many pursued other prestigious paths associated with their churches, and divine champions of evil deities were typically also blackguards. Most of them had a military or otherwise combat-oriented background, most commonly paladins, fighters, and monks, as well as barbarians and rangers, and often militant clerics and druids. The battles between divine champions of opposing faiths were legendary, oft-told by bards over the centuries. ![]() The faithful and clergy of their churches loved them just as much as the foes of the church despised them. Please Send Help works perfectly well as a standalone. Now that I've finished it, I think I'll try to track down the first book ( I Hate Everyone But You, set during Ava and Gen's college years). I'm glad I wasn't put off by finding out it's book #2. Not what I'd typically consider teen fare! (Side note - why are young adult novels mostly about teens and not about actual young adults - which is what Ava and Gen are?) So sure, put it on the YA shelf if you want, but just know that it's about women in their 20s figuring out life, sex, STDs, and more. NetGalley lists it as teen/YA, but since the characters are 22-ish (I think), I wouldn't have thought to consider this young adult. Genre/library shelf-wise, I'm not quite sure where I'd put this one. But they get one another, and they're there for one another - and even when they ignore good advice or act out in particularly questionable ways, they still are there to comfort, pick each other up, and kick a little ass if that's what needed to shake some reality into each other's minds and hearts. She did NOT like that but I have put vodka on all of my scratches so I'm sure I'm fine. Tabby finally gave in to her gluttony and came inside. Both Ava and Gen are wickedly, crassly funny, even when freaking out, making absurd decisions, or talking about insane events in their lives. Gen, in Florida, is trying to break into serious journalism, but the only job she could find is at a small-town newspaper with nothing much at all to cover and no room for advancement at the family-run paper.Īva and Gen have history together, and their bond is immediately apparent. Ava, in New York, is interning with a comedy show, dying to gain real-life experience as a writer while working her (unpaid) butt off. I hope they continue to feature a back up story as more action can never hurt.īuy it! I enjoyed Robbie Reyes: Ghost Rider #1 quite a lot. It also introduces a new villain called Pyston Nitro who’s interesting powers may leave Robbie playing catch up. The script in the bonus story is fun and provides more bang for your buck. The back up story is drawn differently by Tradd Moore and I have to say that, personally, I prefer the art in the main story. ![]() In the case of the main story, this is actually only three pages. This allows for a clear shift in tone and action, in my opinion the book is at it’s best when Robbie’s head is a flaming metal skull. In fact, all of the pages featuring the transformation or the Ghost Rider himself are coloured differently up to and including the gutters of the page. All of these are delivered with real skill and make for a very diverse and visually striking book. I guess if you’re going to draw a Ghost Rider book you have to be good at fire, skulls, and speed. It’s spectacular! The art throughout the main story is fresh and clean and really comes to life in the kinetic and vibrant chase scenes. I have to admit that since this Robbie Reyes: Ghost Rider #1‘s solicitation, the cover image by Marco Checchetto has been my mobile phone lock screen. Hopefully this will be a feature of the new series allowing Robbie to interact and team up with other young or teen heroes could lead to some interesting story lines. Although Robbie is yet to actually meet them, the issue itself contains a sub plot featuring both Amadeus Cho (Totally Awesome Hulk) and Laura Kinney (The All New Wolverine). One of the more enjoyable elements here is the inclusion of other younger heroes from within the Marvel Now universe. We know Eli is evil as his dialogue boxes are black! This conceit continues here with a fair bit of internal monologue (or dialogue I suppose) between Robbie and Eli, especially when Robbie is in full transformation. Robbie gets full control of his own body as long as he sates his uncle’s blood lust with the spirits of evil doers. Robbie became the Ghost Rider after making a deal with the spirit of his evil serial killing uncle Eli. It’s a theme that wonderfully displays Robbie’s motivations as well as the clear love these two have for one another. There are a few well scripted family moments between the siblings that speak to their co-dependence and strong bond. Particularly central here is the relationship between Robbie and his younger brother Gabe. With Robbie currently appearing in (or propping up as some might say) Agents of Shield, it’s no surprise that the Marvel Now incarnation would follow the same route.įelipe Smith and Tradd Moore were the original creators and designers of this incarnation and Smith in particular does a good job here of quickly fleshing out characters and their relationships.
